Indian College of Radiology

Indian College of Radiology

The concept of an Indian College of Radiology, as the academic wing of the Indian Radiological & Imaging Association was conceived by two stalwarts of our Association, Professor P.K. Haldar and Dr. K.N. Kamdar in the year 1970. The First pre-congress teaching session (Continuing Medical Education) was conducted at the 27th Annual Congress of IRIA at Indore in January 1974, with Prof. P.K. Haldar as the Chairman with Dr. K.N. Kamdar & Prof. Arcot Gajaraj as co-ordinators and Dr. B. D. Gupta as the Secretary of the CME.
The General Body of the Indian Radiological Association gave official recognition to the establishment of the College during the 28th Annual Congress at Hyderabad in 1975. The pre-congress CME programs of the Indian College of Radiology became a regular annual feature.
ICRI was established as a teaching (academic) wing of the Association in 1976 by Late Prof. P.K. Haldar and Dr. K.N. Kamdar.  Prof. P.K. Haldar was the first Founder Chairman of the college followed by Dr. K.N. Kamdar. During initial period of six years activities were mainly confirmed to day’s teaching programme (C.M.E.) prior to the Annual Congress of IRA. The first set of rules & regulations of the Indian College of Radiology & Imaging was formulated and these became effective in January 1977.
With the untimely demise of Prof. P.K. Haldar in 1976, Dr. K. N. Kamdar succeeded as the Chairman, with Prof. Arcot Gajaraj as the Vice Chairman and Dr. B. D. Gupta as the Secretary. Prof. B. N.
